Instead, it goes into your equipment slot and can be activated at any time. No longer do you have to use an overshield right when you pick it up.
The new overshield can be used whenever you need it. Don’t be afraid to challenge someone with a drop shield - a drop bubble from Halo 3 it is not! Not only is it fairly weak, but it can be immediately destroyed if you aim for the small metal piece at the bottom. The new drop shield is a handy tool for protecting you from minor damage, but it’s a simple thing to destroy. You can shoot the small metal part of a drop shield to destroy the whole shield immediately. You can also use this tactic to confuse your enemies and maybe get out of a tight spot. This will launch you into the air, so you can get to high up places. The all-new Repulsor is handy if you need to deflect a strong blast or shove an oncoming vehicle away from you, but you can also use it to get to out-of-the-way places by aiming it at the ground and activating it. You can use the new Repulsor equipment to jump really high. This is handy if you need to close distance with someone you want to kill at close range, or if you’re trying to hijack vehicles. You can also grapple vehicles and people. If you don’t see a little yellow symbol, then you’re too far away! When grappling, you’ll see a little yellow marker in your crosshairs if the thing you’re trying to grapple is within range. If the enemy is beating you to a game-changing weapon, try snaking it away from them. This may very well be the reason that power weapons don’t appear on weapon racks like other weapons do. Power weapons can be pulled towards you with the grappleshot or launched into the air with a grenade. This actually makes you go faster than sprinting for a short time - very useful for closing distances when you're in a tight spot! Simply tap the crouch button while sprinting to slide along the ground.
Don't forget to slide: A new type of mobility is available in Infinite with the addition of sliding.
You'll pick up alternate grenades as you explore maps and, rather than having to exhaust your fragmentation grenades first, you can simply switch them out for another type. You can switch between grenade types: This one isn't new to Halo, but a good reminder.
By scanning the area, you can see weapon stations, even if they're through walls.
Your AI can scan the environment: The AI scan is new to Halo and comes in handy if you'd like to find a better weapon. This allows you to trade weapons with your teammates or role-play as a really clumsy spartan. You can drop your weapons: Infinite finally adds the ability to drop a weapon without picking one up. They also automatically populate with the area’s name, which is super useful for learning map areas and will give you an advantage if you bother to remember them. Marked locations appear as white and pinged enemy's appear as red. This ability is context-sensitive and works on locations or enemies. Mark things on the map: Infinite adds the ability to mark things on the map, which is done by pointing your cursor at whatever you want to highlight and hitting the "Mark" button.
